Orin D. Grant

Senior Pastor

The Rev. Orin D. Grant, Sr. was born in 1968 at historic Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is a native of Gretna, Louisiana, the capital of Jefferson Parish. He was reared by a godly mother, Deaconess Mureline Grant, who played the role of mother and father.

Rev. Grant accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 14, 1975 at the age of seven. Three weeks later he was baptized at St. Paul Baptist Church by his pastor, The Rev. Eugene J. Roberson on Sunday, October 5, 1975. Rev. Grant was brought up in the church prior to and after his salvation.

Rev. Grant was educated in the Jefferson Parish Public School System. He attended McDonough # 26, Gretna Junior High, and West Jefferson High School. He graduated from West Jefferson in 1986.

In 1988, at the age of twenty, Rev. Grant felt the Holy Spirit tugging at his heart. Something essential was missing from his young life. He was living without a purpose. God was calling Rev. Grant to surrender. In humble obedience to Almighty God, Rev. Grant gave God full control. Rev. Grant gave up the world and its worldliness and rededicated himself to the Lord.

In light of Rev. Grant’s surrender, God gave him the gift of teaching, his first spiritual gift. Rev. Grant used his gift of teaching in the St. Paul Sunday School as an assistant teacher and a teacher. In 1991 he started his Christian education journey at Union Baptist College Theological Seminary (UBCTS), not as preacher, but as a teacher. At the initial time of Rev. Grant’s seminary training he was the superintendent of Sunday School at St. Paul. He matriculated at UBCTS from 1991 to 1995.

It was not long before God gave Rev. Grant his second spiritual gift, the gift of preaching. On New Year’s Day, Wednesday, January 1, 1992, Rev. Grant answered and acknowledged his call to preach the gospel. He first told his mother, and then he and his mother went to his pastor’s house and told him. That day in Pastor Roberson’s home study, Rev. Roberson vowed to help train Rev. Grant as a minister of the gospel. Rev. Roberson and the St. Paul congregation saw it coming and finally it happened. Rev. Grant’s acknowledgment of his call to preach was a joyous occasion for him, his family, his pastor, his church, and his community.

After years of dedicated and faithful service Rev. Grant was ordained to the gospel ministry in 1997. Ordination was not an easy process. Therefore, Rev. Grant had to thoroughly prepare himself. Ordination was a sign that God was preparing Rev. Grant for a higher call of service.

In 1995, Rev. Grant began attending New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (NOBTS). While matriculating at NOBTS, Rev. Grant earned an Associate Degree in Pastoral Ministries in 1998, was awarded a Presidential Scholarship and earned a Bachelors Degree in Pastoral Ministries in 2000. Soon after earning his second degree he began his graduate studies for his Master Degree of Divinity. Rev. Grant presently attends conferences, seminars, and workshops to continue his Christian education.

While at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (NOBTS), Rev. Grant met his future wife, Ms. Myrna Audrict in the Baptist Bookstore on the campus of NOBTS in 1995. Rev. Grant and Ms. Audrict were first and foremost friends for two years, and then dated for two years. Rev. Grant and Ms. Audrict consummated their friendship and dating by marriage on Saturday, January 15, 2000. Rev. and First Lady Grant are happily married and have three sons, Travis, Ryan, and Orin, Jr. Pastor and First Lady Grant, and their family are committed to serving the Lord and his people.

On Wednesday, February 23, 2000 God gave Rev. Grant his third spiritual gift, the gift to pastor. Rev. Grant was appointed by God and elected by St. Paul to pastor his home church. Rev. Grant is a gifted and dynamic teacher, preacher, and pastor. He has dedicated himself to exalting the Savior, equipping the saint, and evangelizing the sinner. At St. Paul, Rev. Grant is rebuilding the walls of the church and the community for Christ. He is leading people into a healthy and growing relationship with Jesus Christ through living and proclaiming God’s Word. Via Rev. Grant’s leadership, St. Paul has become a place of intimate worship, biblical teaching and expository preaching. Rev. Grant has a calling to fulfill and a God to glorify.

Rev. Grant travels as an itinerate minister teaching and preaching the gospel in and out of the state of Louisiana. His preaching motto is, “Don’t go everywhere preaching, if you’re not going to preach everywhere you go.” Rev. Grant is an adjunct professor and trustee board member at Union Baptist College Theological Seminary (UBCTS). Rev. Grant is the Executive Secretary of the Westside Missionary Baptist Association (WMBA), Assistant Recording Secretary of the Baptist Pastors Conference of Greater New Orleans and Vicinity (BPCGNOV), and the Executive Secretary of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) of Jefferson. Rev. Grant is a good standing member and an affiliate of the Louisiana Baptist State Convention, where he serves as Special Assistant to the President. Rev. Grant is also a member of the largest African-American religious organization in the United States of America, the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. Rev. Grant is a dedicated advocate for church growth, discipleship, evangelism, outreach, and Christian education. Rev. Grant’s ultimate missionary goal is to reach the world with good news and good works.
